1. Service Description

Penrose is an AI-powered email client that connects to your existing email accounts via IMAP and SMTP protocols. It provides email management, AI-assisted features, and productivity tools.

2. Account Terms

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password and account.
One account per person. Accounts are non-transferable.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Penrose.

3. Subscription & Payments

Free tier — basic email features at no cost.
Pro tier — $12/month or $115/year, including AI features, smart inbox, and more.
New Pro subscribers receive a 7-day free trial.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period.
You may cancel at any time via the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time within a billing period.

4. Refund Policy

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee from your first payment. This aligns with the cooling-off period under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you are not satisfied, contact us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund.

After 14 days, no refunds are issued for the remainder of the current billing period. Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.

5. AI Features Disclaimer

AI features are powered by Anthropic Claude. AI-generated content — including draft replies, summaries, and suggestions — may not always be accurate. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before sending. Penrose is not liable for any consequences arising from AI-generated content.

6. Email Access

By connecting your email account, you grant Penrose permission to access your email via the credentials you provide, solely for the purpose of delivering the service. Your credentials are encrypted with AES-256. Penrose does not read or use your emails for advertising, data mining, or any purpose other than providing the service.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use Penrose to send spam or unsolicited bulk email.
Use the service for any illegal purpose or to transmit illegal content.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of Penrose.
Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
Impersonate another person or entity.

9. Limitation of Liability

The service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the service will be error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Penrose's total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. This does not affect your statutory rights as a UK consumer.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. You can delete your account from Settings. Upon deletion, your data is removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

12. Dispute Resolution

We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any disputes informally at me@stevechalmers.uk. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. General

Severability — if any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
Entire agreement — these terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Penrose.
Amendments — we may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.
